01 The idea
Why we are building this
The person best placed to explain a module is almost always someone who sat it a year ago, and there is currently no way to find them. Academic help is about closing that gap: peer tutors first, professional tutors where they are worth it, and study groups for everything in between.
02 The plan
What academic help will include
- Peer tutors by module Search by university and course code, not by vague subject, so you get someone who sat your paper.
- Verified professional tutors For subjects where a peer is not enough, with rates stated up front and no lead-generation middleman.
- Study groups Open groups per module and per exam period, on and across campuses, that you can join rather than be invited to.
- Writing and referencing support Practical help with structure, referencing and academic English, which is where most marks quietly go missing.
03 In use
How it will work
- Step 1 Search your module By course code where your university publishes one, by subject where it does not.
- Step 2 See rate and record What they charge, what they scored in the module, and what other students said.
- Step 3 Book directly No agency fee, no commission taken out of a student tutor's hourly rate.
Where it actually stands
The tutor side is further along than most of this list, because the application to become a tutor is already live on this site and people are signing up. What does not exist yet is the search, the profiles and the booking.
Questions students ask
Straight answers about this, whether or not our version of it is finished.
See what already worksRight now, mostly by asking in a course WhatsApp group or paying an agency rate meant for school students. Neither works well: the group chat depends on who happens to be reading, and agencies rarely cover university-level modules at a price a student can afford.
What we are building indexes tutors by university and course code, so you can find someone who took the exact module. Students who want to tutor can already apply through our become a tutor page.
Peer tutoring between students typically settles between AED 50 and AED 120 an hour depending on the subject and level, while agency tutoring runs considerably higher. Because we take nothing from the rate, what a tutor charges is what a tutor is paid.
Yes. The tutor application is open today. Apply now and your profile is among the first listed when search goes live.

Most of DubaiStudentLife is still being built, and we would rather say so than pad the site with empty pages. Register and you get told once, when the part you came for is actually there.
