Why we are building this
Transport is the quietest drain on a student budget in this city, and the biggest single saving available to most students is a card a lot of them do not know they qualify for. This section is about spending less time and less money getting to the same places.

What transportation will include
- The student Nol card Who qualifies, what it saves, exactly what documents to bring and where to apply, step by step.
- Routes to every campus Metro, bus and feeder routes to each university, with realistic door-to-door times including the walk.
- Taxis, apps and car sharing What each really costs per trip at student volumes, and when splitting one beats the metro.
- Driving and cycling Whether a licence is worth it while studying, what it costs to get here, and where cycling actually works.

- Step 1 Pick your campus and home Get the routes that exist between those two points, not a generic network map.
- Step 2 Compare time against cost Every option shown with both numbers, because at 8am one of them matters more.
- Step 3 Claim the student rate A checklist for the discounted card so you do not get turned away at the counter.

See what already worksYes. Dubai's Nol system includes a discounted personal card for eligible students, which cuts the fare on the metro, tram and buses substantially against a standard card. It has to be applied for with proof of enrolment rather than issued automatically, which is why many students never get one.

For most students, no. The metro, tram and feeder buses reach the major academic areas, and the running cost of a car is significant next to a discounted transport card. It depends heavily on where you live relative to your campus, which is exactly what the route pages will let you check.
It varies from a ten-minute walk to well over an hour, and area reputation is a poor guide to it. Every area page will carry a real door-to-door time for each university rather than a distance.
