Why we are building this
Health insurance is mandatory in Dubai, most students are on a policy they have never read, and the first time anyone checks what it covers is usually in a waiting room. This section is the version you read before that, not during it.

Not built, and it will be the most carefully checked section on the site. Nothing here will be medical advice; it is navigation, cost and admin, which is the part students are actually stuck on.

See what already worksYes. Health insurance is a legal requirement for residents in Dubai, and international students are normally covered either through a policy arranged by their university or one tied to their residence visa sponsorship. Being covered and knowing what the cover includes are different things, and the second is where most students are caught out.
This section will explain what student policies here typically include, and what they do not.
Many universities have a campus clinic or nurse for minor issues, and beyond that it is walk-in clinics, private hospitals and public facilities, each with different network acceptance and cost. Going to a provider outside your insurer's network is the most common way students end up paying out of pocket unnecessarily.
Most universities in Dubai offer some form of counselling to enrolled students, usually free and usually capped at a number of sessions. What exists outside that, and what insurance contributes to it, is far less clear, and that is the part this guide will spell out.
