Nothing matches that combination
Try a wider budget, or drop a filter. Searching "free", "indoor" or "beach" usually gets you somewhere.
01 Start from the plan
Most people do not search for a venue. They search for an afternoon.
Pick what you are actually trying to do and the list above narrows to the places that do it well.
65 of these in total. The rest are in the “Good for” filter.
02 Start from where you are
Dubai is big. Start with the half hour you are willing to travel.
Where to go in Dubai, answered
The questions students search before they pick somewhere.
See what is on this weekQuite a lot, and more of it is free than people expect. 69 of the 100 places listed here can be done without spending anything at the gate: every public beach, most of the waterfront promenades, the malls, the creek and the heritage quarters. Filter the list to Free and you get the whole set in one view.
From roughly May to September the answer is almost always indoors, which is why this list can be filtered that way. Malls are the obvious option and cost nothing to walk around, but the museums, galleries, libraries, cinemas and indoor activity venues are the more interesting version of the same plan. Set the filter to Indoors and ignore everything else until October.
Public beaches, the promenades at Marina, JBR, Bluewaters and Dubai Creek Harbour, the parks outside their ticketed hours, the old quarters in Bur Dubai and Deira, the gold and spice souks, Alserkal Avenue, and every mall in the city. 69 entries here are marked Free, and the budget filter has that as its own band.
The metro reaches a surprising amount of this list, and where it does not, a shared taxi split four ways is usually cheaper than it sounds. The list is grouped into 8 parts of the city so you can pick somewhere close before you worry about how to get there, and several entries are tagged Metro because the station is the easy part of the trip.
For anything outdoors, late afternoon into the evening for most of the year, and mornings in the winter months. Each entry carries the time of day it is actually best at, which is not always the time it is busiest, and the finder can be filtered by it.
Most of them were chosen on exactly that basis: somewhere a group can turn up without booking, without a dress code, and without one person quietly spending more than they meant to. Every entry says what it is good for and roughly what an evening there costs, so you can agree on a plan before anyone is committed to it.
Know somewhere that should be on this list?
This list is kept by students, not by an algorithm. If there is a place you and your friends actually go to and it is not here, tell us and it goes in.
